Learn from the mistakes of others.
Today’s blog post is dedicated to two types of people. Those who are new to their debt-free journey. And those who are in the middle of their journey and may feel stuck. I got you! I know how challenging this journey can be so I wanted to prepare you by sharing a few lessons I’ve learned.
If you didn’t know, I’m officially DEBT FREE!! I made my last student loan payment on May, 20,2020. I paid off $57,747 worth of debt in 31 months. I paid off 2 credit cards, 1 car loan, and a $50,000 student loan. If you want to know how I did it, check out my last blog post: http://cashandcurls.com/10-keys-that-helped-me-get-out-of-debt/
Here are 5 things I wish I knew before starting my debt-free journey:
- Sometimes you will have to be your own cheerleader. Everyone will not support your journey. There will be many times you will need to give yourself a pep talk. Encourage yourself.
- Celebrate often. Don’t wait for major milestones. Celebrate the small wins. It’s okay to treat yourself throughout the journey.
- Be open minded to other avenues/ different methods and techniques while trying to gain financial freedom. Just because it’s different doesn’t make it bad. Be open to learning something new.
- Ask questions. There are no dumb questions. There are people out there (in the debt-free community) who are willing to answer your questions. Build relationships with them! 🙂
- Embrace and enjoy the journey. You’ll find out a lot about yourself. You’ll learn more about your values and discover a few talents you didn’t think you had. Stop looking at the end date. Make the most of the journey.
I hope that you have learned something from the mistakes I’ve made. Keep your eyes on your goal. I’m rooting for you. 🙂
You can win with money,
