“Don’t be afraid of being a beginner.”
After watching “Stop Going Broke Trying to Impress People” by MJ Harris. A week later, I came across Dave Ramesy through TeAmoAarron, a social media influencer. She mentioned his seven baby steps in her video titled “How to Save Money With the PERFECT Budget – The Envelope System. I learned how to set up a basic budget by watching her video and then decided to subscribe to Dave Ramesy’s YouTube channel. After subscribing to his YouTube channel, I was HOOKED. I found myself listening to his videos at night after work and on my way to work. The debt-free screams are what got me committed to the plan. After hearing the stories of people like me, I felt empowered to start this journey. I no longer wanted to live in bondage, I didn’t want to owe anyone. I knew that one day, I would be able to scream “I’M DEBT FREE” in Nashville, Tennessee if I stuck with his plan.
I completed Baby Step 1- save a $1,000 emergency fund and then moved on to Baby Step 2- The Debt Snowball. I listed out my debts from smallest to largest despite interest rate with a black sharpie on red construction paper. I officially began my debt-free journey in October of 2017.
